Pokecember Gallery: 2016

In the winter of 2016 I commissioned artists from all around the world to submit a piece to the first web gallery I was to curate. I wanted to have a unified theme while also giving artists an opportunity to showcase their own skills and preferences. Being that the winter holidays were coming up and a brand new Pokémon game was just released, I allowed each artist to depict themselves (or a character of their choosing) in a wintertime setting with their favorite Pokémon. I named the gallery after the popular twitter hashtag: #Pokecember.

Enjoy every unique addition to the gallery and feel free to check out the artist’s social media links provided below each work.

Pokecember Logo and Variants by @Moshbitco In seeking the perfect balance of unique style and familiar look, artist Michael Brooks Chandler turned to the original Japanese ‘Pocket Monster’ logo designs. The variant colors of Green, Blue, and Yellow were presented as homage to the 5 original Pokémon games, but Red was used as the official logo. Twitter Patreon Newgrounds

@Nennesleepy Using a cold color scheme, Nennesleepy brings a serene moment to life as she depicts two Umbreon looking skyward. Notice the painterly backgrounds in juxtaposition from her beautifully detailed figuring. A simple zoom in will show the ornateness of Nenne’s work; from the glowing of the Umbreon’s markings to the ruffles in the fabric of their coats. Twitter Youtube

Rakugaki Otoko (@Dreamsbell) Game Designer Rakugaki Otoko (@DreamsBell) lent his skill to the gallery and created two fantastic pieces that show just how dynamic and appealing his style is. First, a Team Rocket styled self-portrait of him, his collaborative partner Lynn (@Lynndoretruffle), and their favorite Pokémon Vaporeon, Gengar, and Meowth. Raku’s phenomenal shading and sourced lighting makes for an action packed work right out of an anime. Twitter Patreon CatBunBesties' Twitter Lynndoretruffle's Twitter

Rakugaki Otoko (@Dreamsbell) Shifting to a more cozy setting, Raku portrays a moment of relaxation between Aaron and his Misdreavus. A cozy cup of hot cocoa and a nice Hanukah sweater may be warm, but the fire with beautifully detailed lighting effects is most certainly warmer. Twitter Patreon
